Kensway Consultants was established in 1993 by Peter Angus.
The name “Kensway” was a tribute to Peter’s Father, Ken, who was a leader in his field of the commercial construction industry and the driving force behind Angus Group Limited.
There was a standing insider joke that projects were to be completed “Kens Way” to meet with Ken’s approval – which meant that they were to be completed to the highest standard possible, within budget, and on time.
This philosophy forms the baseline for all projects to be completed by the Kensway Consultants.
After an extensive history in Commercial Construction and Aged Care Project Management, Peter saw a gap in the market for a small experienced consultancy team to specialize in the property and project management fields in the Aged Care Sector.
This scope of works has since been widened to include project management in all sectors of the building industry: from projects in the smaller end of the commercial market up to the multi-million dollar projects currently under construction.
Peter stepped down as Managing Director in 2018. His commitment to the industry & client focus continues with his son Daniel appointed as Managing Director. Peter’s commitment and interest in the industry continued up until his recent passing, and the Kensway team strive to continue his legacy long into the future.

Meet the team
Kensway Project Management Team: Central
Daniel is a specialist in up front design with a keen interest in the front end of projects, managing all aspects of design and the development process. With an extensive client-focused project management background, client relationships and exceeding expectations are his goal for all projects Kensway are involved in.
Daniel stepped up to Managing Director in 2018. His values, work ethic and approach are all those of which he learnt from his father Peter. Daniel is proud of his family’s history in the industry, and works hard to continue this legacy into the future.
GENERAL MANAGER CENTRAL PROJECT TEAM
Barry trained as an architectural draughtsman, transitioning into project management around 16 years ago. He has been involved with some major projects for some of New Zealand’s biggest companies, and has experience in residential, commercial, retail, aviation, health care & housing for the elderly.
A vast background in client side project management along with site and construction management give Barry a wide range of skills to compliment and strengthen any project team. He brings an open and collaborative approach, along with good communication skills to deliver an end result to be proud of.
Alice joined Kensway in 2017 as a project coordinator, which combines work in project management with a support role in quantity surveying. Alice has completed a Bachelor of Building Science, her major being in Project Management and Sustainable Engineering Systems. This has given her experience and knowledge of the industry and the procedures of both quantity surveying and project management.
Alice’s goal is to become a project manager, and her current position allows her to draw on the experience and knowledge of other company members to achieve this.
Matthew joins Kensway as a project manager coming from a strong background in construction and site management. He has experience in a wide range of construction projects, including the challenging environments of seismic strengthening and petro chemical fields.
Matthew’s strengths within health & safety policies and procedures as well as his client focus make him an asset to the team.
Talei joined Kensway as a Project Manager in July 2018. She has vast experience in construction project management, having worked across a broad range of industries including the builds of new service stations, schools, Correctional facilities, and seismic strengthening projects.
Talei’s experience in construction coupled with sound project and financial management gives her well-rounded ability to oversee the success of our client’s projects.
Marnin joined the Kensway team in early 2019, bringing with him 15 years of experience in the New Zealand and UK construction industries.
Marnin is a great communicator, an organised and effective planner with a great eye for detail. He has an ability to manage multiple issues efficiently and comprehensively.
He is currently working on various projects, in both private and public sectors.
As a strong and supportive team player, he successfully develops positive relationships with people at all levels.
Marnin’s experience, creative thinking, and acumen will continue to add value with our team and clients.
Dan (Herbie) joined Kensway as a Project Manager in January 2020. Herbie’s industry experience stems from his time as an Architectural Draughtsman which led into Contract and Project Management, delivering for a number of clients within the private and public sector.
Herbie holds good relationships with people, lives for problem solving and is more than comfortable with a set of plans in hand. He is driven to deliver on client projects and is not afraid of rolling his sleeves up when a project requires that extra push.
Kensway Quantity Surveyor Team
MANOJ PARBHU MNZIQS
GENERAL MANAGER QS DIVISION
Manoj began working for Kensway in 1993, leaving in 2002 to take on a senior management role in the commercial sector. He returned to us in 2011.
Manoj manages our quantity surveyor department and is a very valued and essential member of the team.
Lisa joined Kensway in 2014 as a quantity surveyor after more than 8 years in the construction industry and over 5 years in quantity surveying.
Lisa has considerable experience in the design, development and construction of care homes and special care facilities, and has worked with a large number of UK-based health care providers.
Jonathan began with us as a quantity surveyor in February 2017. After graduating in 2018 with his Diploma in Quantity Surveying, he is keen to really understand every facet and all the intricacies of the Construction Industry.
Jonathan’s attention to detail makes him a valuable member of our team.
Richard Angus has over 50 years’ experience in the building industry.
This experience includes commercial construction, pre-cast concrete, aluminium window manufacture, quantity surveying, and project management.
Kavi joined Kensway in November 2019, having completed his National Diploma in Quantity Surveying in November 2018.
His tertiary level qualifications, including the core business skills of accounting and economics, provide a disciplined commercial approach to identifying, analysing and solving problems.
After completing his Diploma, he gained valuable work experience with a major quantity surveying consultancy.
Kavi is really keen to broaden his quantity surveying skills and experience, and is a great support to our team.
Ian has been living and working in Christchurch as a Quantity Surveyor for approximately 11 years.
During his career he has undertaken a wide variety of responsibilities, including estimating and contract administration for a diverse cross-section of projects including shopping centre extensions, heritage refurbishments, structural upgrades, new office builds, hospitals, education, and tourism.
Kensway Project Management Team – Northern
The Northern Team is led by our Associate Director Carl Eckhart.
Based in Auckland, Carl has worked in the construction industry since 1989. He completed his education and training in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and came to New Zealand in 2005.
Carl has extensive experience in all aspects of property management and construction, and has proved himself a conscientious and client-focused project manager.
Andrew joined Kensway in March 2017.
Andrew’s wide-ranging involvement in the industry over the past 30 years has given him a comprehensive understanding of design, contracts and construction. As well as holding key management positions in medium-sized construction companies, he worked for 20 years with Fletcher Construction and has run his own specialist construction business.
Andrew’s skills were recognized in 2013 winning an NZIOB Excellence Award.
Ben joined Kensway in February 2020.
Based in Tauranga, Ben relocated from Auckland in 2017 to better serve the region he covered at the time. With 23 years’ experience in the construction industry, Ben has worked in the retail and office fitout sector and spent the last 12 years specialising in aged care and retirement living, both in the UK and New Zealand. He has experience in main contractor and client-side project management.
Ben happily works autonomously though thrives in a team environment, enjoys stakeholder engagement and negotiations and is a passionate problem solver with strong communication skills.
Min joined Kensway in February 2020, bringing with her wide-reaching experience gained in the UK and South Korea.
Since her move to Auckland, Min has been working in executive support roles for property developers and being involved with the commercial and legal aspects of property management and development.
Min is excited to be part of the dynamics of the construction industry as a Kensway member, and keen to expand her knowledge by learning from the best to become a qualified project manager.
Kensway Project Management Team – Southern
KARL GASKELL MNZIOB MNZIQS
Karl joined us from Armitage Williams Construction in 2016. He has extensive experience in commercial construction and is an active member of the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) southern chapter’s board.
Karl enjoys working in a team environment and actively promoting value engineering during the design process.
His strengths include a strong construction background and experience, contractual skills, people skills, management of consultants and contractors, negotiation and leadership.
Craig joined Kensway in February 2017.
Craig has worked in the construction industry for 26 years – initially as a qualified carpenter, then for 13 years as a site manager running large and small scale commercial projects: warehouses, office-based builds and fit outs, school builds, aged care facilities, and commercial interior fit-outs.
His site management work has given Craig experience in working closely with consultants and local government to produce quality projects and satisfied clients.
Sam joined Kensway in February 2018.
Sam has worked in the construction industry for 13 years. Starting out as a carpenter and LBP then later moving into the project management field. Over the past 7 years Sam has managed a large number of high end repair/rebuild projects throughout the Canterbury region.
His carpentry and project management experience has provided Sam with a strong understanding of the construction process as well as strong communication skills, people skills and stakeholder management skills.
Having been involved in a number high level sports team’s Sam really enjoys the team environment and developing strong relationships and working as a team to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
Emily has had five years’ experience in project administration as well as a Certificate in Business and Administration and a Project Management Diploma.
She has a passion for the construction industry and thrives from the success of projects.
Tim relocated to Christchurch in 2000 looking to get into the construction industry. Given a Project Management roll working on residential housing, he quickly turned his focus to this aspect of construction.
Over the last 15 years Tim has worked on a broad range of projects from residential, architectural, multi-Units, small commercial and construction of building Retirement Villages, gaining Master Build awards in various categories.
His strengths include great communication skills with team members, contractors and clients, along with a good understanding of construction and eye for detail.
Our Administration Team
Angeline has been with Kensway since 2007.
Angeline is a trusted member of our team and her role covers all aspects of administration, including accounts, IRD and payroll.
ADMINISTRATION MANAGER / EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Rebecca joined the team in the 1990s.
She is personal assistant to the management team and oversees the company and Wellington office administration.
As a valued member of the Kensway team, Rebecca is first point of contact for any enquiries from new or existing clients.
Advisors to the Board
Hugh is a highly regarded industry figure with immense experience within the construction industry.
Hugh joined Kensway on retiring from Rider Levett Bucknall after 38 years’ service, 18 of which were served as RLB’s Managing Director in Wellington. Kensway draws on Hugh’s experience in project procurement, evaluation, cost management, and project management.
Brian is a retired chartered accountant and retired Associate Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.
He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Brian chairs several boards and is a trustee on various charitable trusts.
We are privileged to have had Brian as an adviser to our board for some time now. His extensive experience and wealth of knowledge in business and accountancy is second to none, and we appreciate his input as part of the team.
